Industry Overview
The petrochemical industry holds a pivotal position in the national economy, with the continuity and safety of its plant operations directly impacting national energy supply stability and industrial chain security. Currently, the petrochemical sector is in a period of profound transformation driven by dual forces of digitalization and decarbonization. Major enterprises are actively deploying intelligent O&M platforms, leveraging IoT and AI technologies to optimize production scheduling and risk prevention & control systems. Under the joint guidance of carbon peak targets and the new industrialization strategy, petrochemical enterprises are accelerating the integration of clean production and intelligent operations. From equipment condition monitoring to predictive maintenance, from process simulation optimization to intelligent energy dispatch, digital capabilities are comprehensively empowering the entire petrochemical production chain. Against this backdrop, highly reliable power assurance systems have become the core infrastructure for sustaining continuous plant operation and preventing unplanned shutdowns.
Industry Challenges
Continuous Power Assurance for Process Units
Petrochemical process units demand extremely high power continuity — any unplanned power outage not only causes tens of millions in economic losses but may also trigger cascading safety and environmental risks. From atmospheric/vacuum distillation to catalytic reforming, from cracking separation to product refining, every process step has stringent power quality requirements. Especially under extreme conditions such as emergency interlock shutdown, fire alarm linkage, and toxic gas leak response, the emergency power system must complete seamless switchover within milliseconds to safeguard critical machinery, safety instrumented systems, and fire protection.
Smart Factory Upgrade
In building smart factories, petrochemical enterprises are widely deploying industrial IoT platforms, digital twin systems, and real-time databases, achieving dynamic process optimization and remote control. This imposes stringent requirements on supporting IT infrastructure — data centers and control systems must receive high-grade power assurance to support 24/7 uninterrupted production operations and decision management.
Green & Low-Carbon Transformation
The 14th Five-Year Plan repeatedly emphasizes energy security and green transition, explicitly calling for accelerated construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system with improved energy supply quality and utilization efficiency. The petrochemical industry is actively responding to the "dual carbon" strategic deployment, comprehensively advancing energy-saving and carbon-reduction retrofits and clean energy substitution to achieve green, low-carbon, high-quality development.

Typical Customer Cases
Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Integrated Base Project
The Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Integration Project is a flagship refining & chemical project under Sinopec and a key construction initiative within China's seven major petrochemical industrial bases. With the vision of "world-class, high-tech, integrated", the project comprehensively builds a green, low-carbon, clean, and efficient modern refining & chemical integrated demonstration base.
Solution Highlights
The project is equipped with industrial-grade UPS, EPS, and AC/DC integrated power systems, covering core processes such as ethylene cracking, hydrogen production units, utility facilities, and terminal facilities, ensuring reliable and stable power supply for critical loads.
Customer Service Value
The project team, drawing on deep insights into the actual operational and maintenance needs of petrochemical enterprises, understood that customers require industrial power equipment with a service life of no less than 20 years and major maintenance intervals of over 10 years, and require original manufacturers to provide long-term supply and technical support for up to 15 years. Based on this, the manufacturer must establish a formal after-sales service system. Astralis Cloud established a critical technical service station for this project, conducting on-site inspections annually as planned, systematically inspecting power modules, potential hazards, and control systems with timely repairs, ensuring products maintain high safety and stability throughout their full lifecycle, providing solid assurance for the long-term stable operation of the plant.
CNOOC Huizhou Refining & Chemical Integrated Project
The CNOOC Huizhou Refining & Chemical Integration Project, implemented by CNOOC Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd., is the largest refining & chemical integrated base under CNOOC. The project comprehensively introduces globally leading automation control systems and digital management platforms, achieving integrated production control and full-process intelligent optimization to ensure long-term stable operation of all units under optimal conditions.
Solution Highlights
The project incorporates over 100 sets of fully-deployed industrial-grade UPS systems, providing stable power assurance for critical equipment such as instrumentation systems and DCS control systems, along with over 50 emergency power EPS systems to support emergency lighting, evacuation, and fire protection systems. Meanwhile, it is the first to deploy over 20 sets of Astralis Cloud next-generation lithium battery storage products, featuring "safe and reliable, intelligent management, compact footprint, and easy maintenance," effectively addressing the pain points of traditional lead-acid batteries in petrochemical scenarios such as large space occupation, high maintenance costs, and short service life.
Project Implementation Results
The industrial-grade UPS Atlas-A1DLSeries deployed in this project draws on nuclear-grade power product design philosophy, featuring outstanding advantages in critical load adaptability, high-temperature heat dissipation, and grid compatibility. Under extreme conditions, it can automatically switch to enhanced bypass operation mode, fully satisfying the customer's strict requirement that "the UPS must never shed load at any moment," successfully resolving the deficiencies of previously used imported brand products in terms of overload capacity and emergency response performance.
Yanchang Petroleum Yulin Refining & Chemical Project
The Yanchang Petroleum Yulin Refining & Chemical Project is a key initiative in Shaanxi Province's energy & chemical industry and a landmark project for Yanchang Petroleum Group's transformation and upgrade. Leveraging Northern Shaanxi's abundant coal, oil, and gas resources, the project builds a modern energy & chemical demonstration base featuring comprehensive coal-oil-gas utilization and deep conversion, widely hailed by the industry as a "benchmark project in energy comprehensive utilization".
Solution Highlights
The project adopts AC UPS dual-power supply and EPS emergency power systems, fully covering key areas including ethylene cracking units, hydrogen production units, utility facilities, and terminal fire protection systems, providing reliable power assurance and emergency support.
Cooperation Value
The project site houses precision control rooms and safety instrumented systems, imposing extremely high requirements on the reliability, quality, and performance of the power supply solution. Meanwhile, the system has diverse product categories, with solutions spanning multiple professional domains, making implementation exceptionally challenging. Facing this challenge, the Astralis Cloud technical team was stationed at the project site, conducting comprehensive engineering surveys and load analysis, and independently designed a highly reliable industrial-grade power protection overall solution. This solution creates an excellent power environment for instrumentation, DCS distributed control systems, and automated communication systems, effectively preventing equipment malfunction, data loss, and abnormal processes caused by instantaneous power interruptions and voltage fluctuations, comprehensively mitigating the risk of safety accidents that could lead to major casualties, significant economic losses, and environmental pollution.
